Resolved - On September 18th, 2023, at 10:29 UTC our administrators were alerted to slow operations being performed within the Frankfurt Block Storage service. Investigation began at 10:40 UTC.
During our investigation, we began to receive customer reports of degraded Block Storage volume performance at 10:42 UTC and several more reports arrived by 10:59 UTC.
After reviewing the reports, our official incident response procedures began at 11:15 UTC to address customer impact.
While incident procedures were underway, at 11:13 UTC, our administrators were able to mitigate customer impact by bypassing symptomatic hardware. This was confirmed by customer reports of recovery beginning at 11:22 UTC.
As a result of this incident, our team is improving slow operations procedures to improve response time for Block Storage performance issues.
